Decisions about our ecological future are often made by heads of state under conditions of stress and artificial light. By slowing down the procession and offering ecological encounters that evoke both beauty and disgust, this feral architecture centers the nonhuman as host, suggesting that humans are only guests. Each assemblage is an inhabitable surface encrusted with nonhuman life — a constellation of textures, odors, and aliveness that provokes visceral wonder and discomfort.
