Well Tower

The Well Tower: An Instrument for Looking (2018)
Permanently installed at Art Farm, Nebraska
Bricks, mortar, wood, steel, mirrored glass
4’ x 12’ x 16’ tall, 6’ deep
Built by hand from salvaged bricks and steel, this folly was left on the prairie to become a ruin. Intrepid wanderers may climb the mast, squeeze through the narrow opening and descend into the underground chamber revealing a hidden interior function: looking up through the instrument reveals unstable reflections cast palely upon a distant glass.
